Match report LEVERSTOCK GREEN are The Watford Observer Fourteen14 Plate champions for 2014 - beating Bushey by 12 runs in a tense low-scoring thriller at the Met Police club.

For long spells during the game, Green didn't look like ultimately having the upper hand in the final of a competition they last won in 2008 at the same venue.

Kris Jadeja - who hit a six off his first ball - top-scored with 27 and opener Kyle Claxton hit 21 as Green eventually posted 114.

At just two more than a run a ball, it looked barely sufficient on a decent batting deck, but the pressure of the chase told on Bushey who were reduced to 25-4 in the early stages.

They fought back hard to seem the likely winners before Mr LGCC, the Levy legend Dave Tyson, intervened to take four wickets borne of accurate bowling and a need for Bushey to keep pace with the one-a-ball asking rate.

Adam Thomas bowled an excellent line & length when returning to complete his spell to bowl the penultimate over before keeper Richard Walker notched his fourth victim of the evening - Bushey's 10th wicket - with a stumping off of Man-of-the-Match Tyson.

Midweek skipper Sam Mazurek lifted the trophy in front of the large contingent of LGCC supporters who had, moments before, roared their approval as Green wrapped up the victory.
