Match report TOM RUMBLE was the star performer on a unseasonably cold evening as LGCC Under-13s got the better of hosts Redbourn by 26 runs at the end of a good-spirited contest.

Tom chalked up a stylish 13 not out with the bat before taking two Redbourn wickets as the hosts were left short of chasing Levy's 126-5.

Cole Seggery hit an unbbeaten 25 to accompany Tom's anchor-like knock after Green had lost a few quick wickets, and with extras playing a big hand in the target set, Levy knew they had plenty of runs in the bank at the half-way stage.

The team's customary tidy fielding and vocal encouragement helped to fend off thoughts of the biting wind at the top of the hill on Redbourn Leisure Centre's wicket, including an LGCC debut for Joshua Munday - who performed admirably given the unpleasant conditions.

Geraint Yates kicked off the reply with the ball in fine style, taking the wickets of two of the host's top-order batsmen to return figures of 2-9 from his 12 balls.

Ben Humphreys found himself on a hat-trick with two wickets in as many balls, and ended with 3-14 from three overs with his accurate deliveries.

A pair of Cole stumpings gifted Tom his brace of wickets as Redbourn batsmen came and went often enough - apart from a fine unbeaten 25 by Miles Kenny - to never really threaten to reach LGCC's total.

Let's hope for slightly warmer weather for the return fixture at The Green!
