Match report LEVERSTOCK GREEN were second-best for most of this 2018 Heath Park Cup Final and opponents Langleybury eventually emerged relatively comfortable five-wicket winners with more than an over to spare in chasing down 122.

After a breezy start from Sol Tomlinson and Lewis Koch at an arid Hemel Town's Heath Park ground, the Levy innings foundered under the pressure of accurate spin bowling to add only 13 runs between over numbers three and eight.

Steady progress thereafter was always coming from the position of a modest scoreboard and LGCC skipper Dayle Littlejohn - seeing his team reduced to 69 for 5 by the end of the 12th over - would at that point have probably taken the eventual run-a-ball target Green ended up posting.

Nahim Iqbal hit two maximums during a brief 23 while all-rounder Ben Goode continued his fine form with the bat to chalk up the innings' highest score of 36.

A 19-run third over of Langleybury's chase meant that the target was soon just 90 runs away with 17 overs in hand, however Levy fought doggedly to keep hopes of an unlikely victory alive with wickets for Abbas Ali, Sol Tomlinson, Charlie Mahanama and Lewis Koch.

Having seen Mo Manzoor chalk up an early 30, Bury No. 4 Pete Metcalf drove his side towards the finishing line with a composed 35. Late support came from Josh Godden (17) before Adex Interiors Man-of-the-Match Ross Channer - who had earlier taken 4-27 from his five overs - joined Khalid Manzoor to see home the chase with seven balls of the contest remaining.

Congratulations to Langleybury on a deserved victory. Here's to a successful second half of the campaign for both teams in the Herts League Championship division.
