Match report DEVELOPMENT among junior players comes at different rates and times, but it will always happen given encouragement and practise.

Maybe there was no better sign of this for LGCC this summer than during the first part of this enjoyable Under-11s game at home to Tring Park on a lovely summer's evening. Charlie Veragoo, new to cricket this season, has found his rhythm with his bowling in the past few weeks - to such an extent that he took three wickets for just six runs from his two overs.

One of his dismissals came as a result of a catch at short fine leg by Matthew Treadway - another new to the game who also took a wicket himself as he looks to further develop his bowling skills.

The pick of The Green overs came from Shrey Mehta, a more experienced young cricketer, who led the way with a wicket maiden and a maiden as he bowled 12 balls without conceding a run, while Lola Himsworth's action kept things simple once again with three decent overs under her belt.

All of this fine work - abetted by another competent performance as wicketkeeper from Eisa Inayat - restricted Tring to 241 for 5 from their 16 overs.

In reply, Shrey's 12 not out proved to be Green's top score, but Mason Hannibal's foot movement and technique caught the eye as he ended up unbeaten with 10 runs.

Levy's last batting pair James Fennessy and Zain Hussain called and ran well, showing an much-developed understanding of the game, as the Tring Park total was breached in the end by the winning margin of 13 runs.

Another game played in the true Spirit Of Cricket. It was a pleasure to welcome our guests from Tring and we wish them well for the rest of their fixtures.

The Under-11s next take on Hemel Town II at home in a week's time. That will provide a good measure of just how far this group have developed.
