Leverstock Green Cricket Club 2nd XI v Hoddesdon II on Sat 01 Sep 2012 at 12.30 pm
Leverstock Green Cricket Club Won by 2 wickets
Match report
Another tense game for the 2`s and another fabulous 30 points which keeps us 3rd and in the race for promotion. Having won the toss, our best bet to win was to bowl first and chase. We bowled well Imran 1-40 and Pradeep 2-33 kept Hoddesdon down to 50 from 20 overs with 3 wickets down. Amies for Hoddesdon struck 115 with force nad was the only Hoddy batter to give us any trouble. Clearly the track was getting easier to bat as the ball got older , so to chase somewhere between 220-240 would i think have been par. Keeping Hoddy down to 218 was a great effort, one of our best fielding days with Richie keeping very well behind the timbers ( no byes) and we held our catches. We needed a positive start , Seggs 33 and DJ 40 provided just that with opening stand of 57, Keithy G 61 batted superbly after his 3 week break ! Partnerships were the key to winning this game , DJ and KG added another 40 for the 2nd wckt. TC was KG`d first time for everything Tom ! Lee 22 scored quickly and again added 40 more precious runs to 130 for 4. Lee ct, Tyso and KG took the game on and scored at a run a ball (68 prtship) which saw us to 200. But , both KG & DT were out within 2 overs and the game was once again in the balance. With lots of nervous spectators and players pacing about. Immy struck 10 runs quickly but was run out attempting a 3rd run, a 3rd run i hear you say , yes and he was run out by a few yards. But , we accounted for 2 runs and kept the pressure on. Richie and Pradeep at the end , saw us home with Pradeep smashing a full toss to teh boundary with 4 balls left. To their credit . Hoddeson could have just put everyone on the line but they also needed to win , another great game with 1 left away at Radlett. Well done all , fingers crossed for Saturday.
