Match report THERE was plenty to be encouraged by for Leverstock Green 2s after a high-scoring defeat at home to table-toppers Dunstable Town II.

Green toiled away manfully on a bone-dry and unforgiving Bedmond Road ground, eventually taking all 10 Dunstable wickets in the 50th over with the target set at 260.

Sixteen-year-old Chrishan Casey was the pick of Levy's bowlers, only coming up one short of a maiden senior five-for thanks to a couple of regulation catches being put down.

Matt Lake's decent spell of off-spin accounted for three visitor's scalps, two of which met a particularly watery end in being stumped Puddle bowled Pond - a dismissal 2s skipper Walker had set the pair before the match, as they head to Oz for a month.

The run chase needed a positive start, something which started to take shape with Lake snr and Chris Renwick at the crease. The pair hit 24 and 39 respectively to give Green a sniff of a chance but middle-order wickets fell cheaply to leave Chinese Dave Young (24 not out) and the tail to muster as many batting points as possible.

Levy's total got to 184 before Sash Ranamuni was caught on the line in the last over, trying to wallop his side towards maximum batting bonus points.

A game played in excellent spirits, Town will be grateful to Green's positive approach throughout in finally yielding the win - but Levy 2s are still well-placed for a tilt at what would be a surprise promotion place.
