Match report LGCC's Under-10 team celebrated Lewis Cooper's birthday with a fine win at Berkhamsted on an evening which reminded players & parents that cricket is actually meant to be played when the sun's shining.

Captain Ben Orriss won the toss and elected to field first at Castle Hill. His team responded in fine style, with a steady flow of wickets including three direct-hit run-outs during a Berko innings which saw 11 dismissals in all as they left Levy 220 to win.

Ben himself was the pick of the Green bowling attack with 3-6 from his two overs, while Ella Heath and Lewis both bowled with good control.

James Craig and Shazil Hussain both got among the wickets with a caught & bowled dismissal, and debutant Alfie Cawley bowled his first LGCC over and also contributed with the bat later on.

LGCC would reach a net 289-2 from their 16 overs, with Ben's 12, Lewis' 11 and Shazil nine all selecting their shots to good effect.

The running between Tayla Walker and Ella was a highlight of the innings, after James and Jasper Whitehead had got the Green off to a solid start.

So a first win of the summer for the Under-10s in the warm Berkhamsted sunshine. Let's continue our individual improvements after this stepping-stone success.
