ON Sunday September 4, LGCC will be honoured to host St. Albans West Indian CC's Viv Blackwood Memorial matchday - a fund-raising afternoon of T20 cricket and Caribbean cuisine.
The day is designed as a season-closing social gathering for players of both LGCC and St. Albans West Indian CC, the club to which Viv gave so much, to raise charitable funds and also celebrate promotion at the end of the two clubs' first venture as a joint Sunday side.
Players from the two clubs will contest a T20 or T30 game (tbc) starting around 1pm, before members from LGCC and SAWICC enjoy each other's company, a raffle and other spot-prize fundraising opportunities throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
Caribbean food will be served, calypso sounds played and there'll of course be liquid refreshment available throughout the day.
It follows on from LGCC senior cricketers' end of Saturday season bash on the night of September 3, which makes for an excellent weekend's revelry all round.
We hope LGCC members will join in their numbers to remember Viv and to support SAWICC, whose players and supporters have been a hugely positive and very welcome addition to summer 2016 at The Green.
