SENIOR CRICKET ROUND-UP - WEEK 5: Three Wins From Three As 1s Revell In Thrilling One-Wicket Victory

04 Jun 2017

SAM REVELL'S perfectly-paced 63 not out helped see Leverstock Green squeak home with a one-wicket win against Northwood.

Batting at No. 6, the game was in the balance when he reached the crease to join Sol Tomlinson, who hit an important 60.

But Revell took his chance to shine, dovetailing primarily with skipper Dayle Littlejohn (17) to bring Northwood's target of 214 within range. There was little lower-order support on offer until No. 11 Adam Thomas strode to the middle and put on the final 11 runs with match-winner Revell.

Earlier in the day, Tomlinson proved the pick of the Levy attack with his 10 overs costing just 27 runs. He picked up three wickets, two of which courtesy of sharp work from wicketkeeper Richard Walker.

Dave Tyson marked his return to first-team duty with a parsimonious spell which yielded Wood only 31 runs from his 10 overs.

IMRAN IQBAL'S 2nd XI made it four wins from five in Division 5A with a thumping victory away at Radlett III.

Asked to bat first, Green posted a giant 295-6 from their 50 overs.

Nahim Iqbal's top score of 76 was supported by 67 from Kash Shakoor and opener Ben Parkes, who hit 42.

'Finding Namo' was also among the wickets, collecting four Radlett victims. All five bowlers picked up at least a wicket apiece, with John Mathew and Dom Clarke snaring a brace of dismissals apiece as Radlett III were removed for just 130.

CHRIS SAXBY ghosted his way to 50 not out for LGCC 3s as they posted what they thought might be an under-par 159-9 against Hitchin III at Parmiter's School.

Graham Evans hit 33 but it was slow going - leaving the 3rds to rely on some fine bowling to engineer a 75-run win.

Steve May returned stand-out figures of 4-19 from his 10 overs, while Oli Sawyer took 3-13 with his leg-spin and Aryan Tomar 3-27 as Hitchin crumbled to 84 all out.

WITHOUT a league fixture, a youthful Green 4s travelled to Old Albanian IV for a friendly.

Teenagers Luke Carl (3-16), Will Rumble (2-20) and Kaleem Saleem (2-13) were all among the wickets as OAs posted a 40-over score of 171-8.

In reply, Saleem top-scored with 21 and George Orriss struck a promising 17 as Levy scrambled to 104 all out.

STRANGE off-field goings-on marred the SAWICC Sunday fixture at Ealing & Hanwellians.

Dayle Littlejohn's patient 57 on a minefield of a track helped LGCC & SAWICC post 157 all out from 34.2 overs.

In reply,Valance Morris took three Ealing wickets but the opposition reached the target with three wickets still in hand.
