HERTS LEAGUE HEADLINERS - SAT MAY 26: Koch King Of The Batting Again As 1s & 2s Win

27 May 2018

A SECOND bout of heavy run-scoring from LGCC opener Lewis Koch - this time 84 to back up his opening-day 126 - ensured Dayle Littlejohn's 1st XI were able to set hosts Sawbridgeworth a challenging target.

It proved more than 40 runs too many for the east Herts team, with Levy earning their second Championship victory from three completed matches.

Koch's fellow opener Harry Blagden hit a steady 28 as Green, asked to bat first, saw Kyle Claxton's 37 help them to 233 all out from just short of their 50 allotted overs.

In reply, Valance Morris removed three of the top four Sawbo batsmen, leaving them floundering at 107-5, while Adam Thomas helped himself to figures of 4-22 as the home team were eventually dismissed for 190.

WICKETKEEPER Richard Walker's unbeaten 67 guided Levy Green 2s to a third win of the summer at home to Northwood Town.

He put on 46 for the fifth wicket with Rory Fleming, who struck an assured 48, as Imran Iqbal's side chased down 169 for the loss of six wickets.

Earlier in the day, Abbas Ali bowled with outstanding control to register 2-16 from his 10 overs, while both John Mathew (3-33) and Leonard Walker (1-33) provided consistency with the ball.

CONNOR CHURCH'S 44 and 3-19 from James Downes were the highlights for LGCC 3s who fell to a first defeat of the season at home to Old Minchendenians.

Levy's run-rate proved too slow to set a challenging target, with tight lines from the visitors restricting the hosts to 148-6 from their 50 overs - a score OMs knocked off with five wickets in hand.

A SHORT-HANDED LGCC 4s tried their best to engineer an unlikely win against West Herts V, having posted just 58. Teenager Dev Kotadiya's 3-19 helped Green take five West Herts wickets before the target was overcome.
