WHAT'S ON AND WHEN: Your Guide To Upcoming Events At Leverstock Green Cricket Club

26 Sep 2019

WHAT'S on during the next few weeks at The Green? Find out here with our up-to-date guide to LGCC's regular and special events.

Friday September 27, from 8.00pm
'FINAL FRIDAY' CLUB SOCIAL: DJ Vinnie's 70s, 80s & 90s Disco
Join us for an evening packed with your favourite tunes from yesteryear, as well as some sing-a-long favourites and special requests.
Well-known to LGCC regulars, DJ Vinnie has been on the decks in recent years for the club's Annual Dinner & Dance evening.

We'll be showing the Rugby World Cup live at The Green during the next couple of months - opening for as many Home Nations matches as time zone differences allow throughout the Japan-based tournament.
Next Home Nations game screened: Wales v Australia - Sun Sep 29, 8.45am start
England next play at a weekend on Saturday October 5 v Argentina. It's a 9am start, so tea & coffee and bacon rolls will be available.

Tuesday October 1, from 7.30pm (and every first Tuesday of the month)
Musicians meet once a month under the supervision of group leader Chris Lawrance to join like-minded souls for an evening of good old foot-tapping sounds.
Come along and listen or have a chat with Chris about joining the merry band of music-makers for this monthly event.

Wednesday October 2, from 8.30pm
DARTS: Away v Arriva
LGCC's Wednesday darts team kick off the winter season with a trip to play against Arriva. The team would still welcome the odd new player or two for the team, so please come along and see them when they're playing at home.

Saturday October 5, from 6.30pm
JUNIOR CRICKET: Awards Evening Season 2019
We'll celebrate the individual and team achievements of what's been a busy summer's cricket for our younger players this season - especially having to play so many rearranged matches in a short space of time due to poor weather.

There are some real success stories continuing to emerge from the junior ranks into our senior teams, as well as positive development across all the age groups at all levels.

Food for the evening will be provided by a local mobile pizza van, parking up on The Green just outside the clubhouse to serve from stone-baked ovens for a small charge per pizza. Junior parent Bansi Shah will be providing vegetarian pizzas as an alternative, again for a small charge to cover costs.

Parents are warmly encouraged to bring a dessert of their own making (or purchase!) along, which you can be certain will be devoured by the club's ever-growing band of youngsters.

Monday October 7, from 8.30pm
DARTS: Home v Camelot
LGCC's Monday darts team host Camelot in a two-legged cup tie and would warmly welcome any support from fellow LGCC members and their guests. The action usually starts between 8pm and 8.30pm.

Thursday October 10 (and every Thursday), 6.30pm-8pm
After a two-week break, here's the weekly yoga session for members, with the clubhouse designated for exclusive use of the group. A drink and conversation often follow the weekly workout.
For more info: Contact Yoga Co-Ordinator Glennis Taylor on 01442 394862.

Saturday October 19, arrive for 7pm
CLUB SOCIAL: Annual Dinner & Dance - at Aubrey Park Hotel
In a change to recent years, LGCC's annual Dinner & Dance event (which includes the presentation of the season's senior cricket awards) will take place this year at the nearby independent hotel Aubrey Park, on the road to Redbourn.

With ever-increasing marquee hire and food costs to host at The Green, in order to avert an increase in ticket prices, a change of venue has been agreed and it is hoped this will further encourage attendance at the club's showpiece evening.

Reservations can be made now, via Keeley Downes from LGCC's Events Team. Drop her an email at lgccevents@hotmail.com or text/call on 07896 237548.

Places remain at £45 per person and include a welcome drink, three-course meal and dancing late into the evening.

There are a few more details to be found via a club website story relating specifically to this event.

Friday October 25, from 7.30pm
We're combining two favourites here for a cracking evening's entertainment.

A cash prize Bingo Night and a mini-beer festival will be here in the LGCC clubhouse for the enjoyment of members, their families and guests.

We'll be looking to kick off with Bingo at 8pm latest, with any time before then being able to put to good use via the quoffing of some liquid delights, arranged by Bar Chairman Graham Evans and his team.

Friday November 29, from 8pm
More details coming soon, but I bet you can guess what's involved on the night!
