06 Mar 2020

WHAT'S on during the next few weeks at The Green? Find out here with our up-to-date guide to LGCC's regular and special events.

Saturday March 7 - bar opens at 4.00pm
SIX NATIONS RUGBY: ENGLAND v WALES - 4.45pm KO
Join us at The Green to cheer on your nation of choice as the Guinness Six Nations continues with two titans going toe-to-toe at Twickenham.

We'll be showing the build-up and all of the match action live at LGCC. It's a 4.45pm kick-off, with the clubhouse and bar open from 4.00pm latest.

So whether you're 'swinging low' or you prefer some 'bread of heaven', come and enjoy the game with fellow members and their friends.

Sunday March 8, 6.30pm-8.00pm at Knox-Johnston Sports Centre
SENIOR CRICKET: Indoor Nets Coaching Session
This Sunday sees the third of eight consecutive weeks of coaching for the club's senior playing fraternity.

Led by Director of Coaching for Senior Cricket Dave Tyson, these 90-minute sessions will be held at Knox-Johnston Sports Centre, Kings Road, Berkhamsted (HP4 3BG). A £5 sub is payable upon arrival.

This is a chance to start getting acclimatised for season 2020, the first competitive fixture for which is on Sunday May 3 with the initial group match of the Herts League Sunday T20 tournament. The Saturday Herts League officially begins on May 9, with outdoor club training starting on Tuesday evenings after Easter (April 14).

Monday March 9, 7pm to 8pm at Longdean School Sports Centre
JUNIOR CRICKET: Indoor Nets Coaching Session
Indoor net sessions and coaching for junior LGCC players from age 10 upwards, inside the Sports Centre at Longdean School (access Sports Centre entrance via Hill Common) between 7pm and 8pm, with a £3 sub payable upon arrival.

There are around six weeks of indoor coaching remaining, and we look forward to seeing some new faces to join the many regular attendees that have been coming along so far.

Monday March 9, from 8pm
MONDAY DARTS TEAM: Intra-Club Doubles
If you'd like to watch some hit-and-miss arrows action, the Monday darts team will be filling a gap in their winter schedule with an intra-club doubles competition.

Monday Night Football will also be on the TVs (Leicester City v Aston Villa) if the darts isn't up to elite standard!

WEDNESDAY DARTS TEAM
Despite finding league competition tough this season, the Wednesday team - including a number of newcomers this year - has reached the Cup Final. Details of dates to be shared separately once confirmed.

Thursday March 12, from 6.30pm
WEEKLY YOGA SESSION
This unisex hour or so inside the clubhouse comes with mats provided, a qualified instructor and a sociable drink afterwards among those participating.

Glennis Taylor is the Yoga co-ordinator. Just come along and join in on the night; the group would welcome some new regular faces.

Tuesday March 17, from 8.00pm
ST. PATRICK'S DAY - LIve Irish Folk Music At The Green
Join us at The Green on on Tuesday March 17 and you'll find LGCC lovingly devoting itself to St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

The Green is going green for tradtional celebrations, which will include the sounds of live Irish folk music that'll get your feet tapping and you probably yearning for home, over a comforting drink of course!

What's more, there'll be special offer prices on both Guinness and Jameson's whiskey to help while away an evening in the company of fellow LGCC members, their friends and family.

So make a date and be ready to get into the true Irish feel for a night of St. Patrick's Day celebrations. Where else would you want to be on a cold Tuesday evening?!

Starting Friday March 27, from 8.30pm
FINAL FRIDAYS: CASH BINGO NIGHTS AT LGCC
We're delighted to confirm that regular cash prize bingo will soon be coming to LGCC.

Following requests and positive feedback from ad hoc events from a number of members, we'll be holding regular monthly cash prize bingo sessions on the 'Final Friday' of each month.

The first ball will be drawn at around 8.30pm on Friday March 27 (it's the Macmillan Quiz Night on Feb 28), and thereafter on each 'Final Friday' of the calendar month - including after Junior Cricket training sessions.

We hope that regular Friday evening patrons will understand our wish to promote increased club usage with an event which has a very broad appeal across all demographics of our membership.

More details nearer the first cash bingo night, but for now you can load your diaries from March to November inclusive with a great reason to be at The Green every 'Final Friday ' - with eyes down from around 8.30pm.

Sunday April 5, from 8pm (and every first Sunday of each month)
MONTHLY QUIZ NIGHT
A very popular monthly staple on the Events calendar, Quiz Night is a monthly chance to pit your wits against fellow members and their guests for cash prizes - as well as a spot of fundraising from time to time.

They're always held on the first Sunday in each calendar month, so please feel free to come along as a team or individuals to join up with others. You don't have to book ahead and everyone is welcome.

Tuesday April 7, from 7.30pm (and every first Tuesday of the month)
CHRIS'S BANJO BASH

Musicians meet once a month under the watchful eye of group leader Chris Lawrance to join like-minded souls for an evening of good old foot-tapping sounds.

Come along and listen or have a chat with Chris about joining the merry band of music-makers for this monthly event, which has developed a very healthy following among LGCC members.
