LGCC REOPENING - PHASE 3: Thanks For Your Continued Support

22 Aug 2020

LGCC's management committee is very grateful for the support from members in complying to Covid-related constraints and measures during the club's phased approach to reopening its doors on a more regular basis.

As a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club), we look to serve the local community as a place of enjoyment to members, their family and friends.

To hear laughter, watch cricket of all ages and share some time socialising around the LGCC clubhouse and its environs has been commented on by many as a great positive at this time.

While we are acutely aware of ever-changing circumstances in relation to the Covid-R rate and other general health concerns, with a readiness to make alterations as necessary, we are also mindful that our members would wish us to attempt to provide some kind of move towards 'getting back to normal' - whatever the new version of that looks like - and have therefore been moving along a three-Phase path of reopening the club to its previously regular schedule.

We have been pleased to welcome a small number of new faces to the Bar Volunteer rota, and these additions - well, more replacements for others unable to commit, in fact - have allowed us to be open at least Wednesday through to Sunday for each of the past three weeks.

Anyone wishing to volunteer one evening or one weekend slot per month should give Bar Chairman Graham Evans a call for a chat on 07850 749256. All volunteers enjoy a personal 20 per cent discount on purchases at the bar.

Last weekend saw the return of members inside the clubhouse itself, and, with a healthy application of commonsense, distancing and the following of 'Test & Trace' and other Covid-relevant measures, we've witnessed a a really convivial atmosphere being to redevelop. Broadly, we are applying the 'pubs & clubs' guidance to how we expect people to behave.

So rather than fill cyberspace too regulary, we confirm that we intend that the clubhouse and bar continues to be open from at least Wednesday evening each week through to the usual Sunday afternoon slot. While the cricket season continues into September, this also includes Saturday evening opening.

Monday and Tuesday evening opening will take place where the bar volunteer roster provides for it. The best place to check for an updated schedule as we head into each new week is at the club's Facebook page. Search 'Leverstock Green CC Players & Supporters' and ask to join the 200+ page members already.

You can also follow us on Twitter @LevyGreenCC. And this club website always carries the latest information from right around the club.

There's a junior cricket match at The Green most evenings, as we try to provide our young cricketers with some games to make up for that they missed out on between April and early July. Check the 'Events' section of the club's website to see when you could stop by and watch our future stars in action.

If you know a youngster who might like to take up cricket, please feel free to contact Director of Junior Cricket Mike Downes on 07768 976372. New senior players should call Richard Walker on 07881 658415.

A reminder that the club's long-standing Cricket Week WILL take place - albeit delayed into September - to coincide with the last week of Herts League fixtures, between Wednesday September 9 and Sunday September 13.
That final day sees a team of Past Players returning to The Green to pit their wits against the impudent current lot!

More details of Cricket Week can be found on this website's 'Cricket Week 2020' page.

In closing, confirmation then that the clubhouse bar will be open right throughout this weekend; from 1pm to 11pm today (Sat Aug 22) and then again from 12noon extending to 10pm - for those who wish to watch the UEFA Champions League Final live - tomorrow (Sun Aug 23).

Continued best wishes for now to all LGCC members and their families from The LGCC Management Committee.
