LGCC WHAT'S ON: January & February 2023 And March Dates For Your Diary

17 Jan 2023

HERE'S what's coming up at LGCC as we move into 2023...

Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome
The fantastic community-focused fixture that is T@TheGreen continues into 2023, having passed its first 100 sessions late last year.

Our community get-together continues between 10am and 12noon on every second and fourth Thursday morning of each month.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

FRIDAY SOCIAL - FRI FEB 3, 8pm: Live Music with John Knowles duo 'MJs 60s Gold'
Returning to LGCC by popular demand is singer-songwriter John Knowles, for another evening of entertainment for LGCC members and their guests.

With John on acoustic guitar, he'll be joined this time by sidekick Micky on bass to play as 'MJ 60s Gold'.

They'll play a wide variety of numbers from the 60s genre and beyond, something to suit all tastes.

We look forward to seeing you at The Green for another free evening's live music.

SUN FEB 5: Monthly Quiz Night, 7.45pm start
After a short break over the festive season, LGCC's Monthly Quiz Night is back in its traditional slot: the first Sunday of the calendar month.

Teams can be made up of any number you'd like to bring, with the entry fee of £2 per person divided between the top performers.

It's a very fun, informal evening, nothing too heavy - but enough to get you thinking. New players are always very welcome, whether forming a full team or simply coming along and joining in with others.

There's also a Spot Prize or two along the way, with the bar open from around 7.00pm.

Quizmaster for February is Mike Darke.

TUE FEB 7 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: First Tuesday of every month; Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm
Enjoy the delights of music played in the traditional & bluegrass way by Chris Lawrance and his collection of musical maestros from around the local area.

Some of the finest fiddlers and string pluckers in the region descend on The Green for an old-time music session once a month - and it's always worth a listen.

The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm at the latest. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy the toe-tapping sounds.

FRIDAY SOCIAL - FRI FEB 24: MacMillan Charity Quiz Night
Thinking caps on for the second time in February - and on this occasion, all in a fantastic cause as Gloria Odell is once again your host for the 'MacMillan Charity Quiz Night'.

Tickets are £12 per person and include a ploughman's supper. The clubhouse opens at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start.

Donations would be welcomed for a fund-raising raffle on the evening.

Teams of up to eight people are welcomed, and we should advise that places for this event have traditionally sold out pretty quickly.

To book your spots, please contact Gloria via email gloria.odell22@gmail.com or on 07710 253679.

Thanks once again in advance for your support of this very worthy cause.

THU JAN 19 & WEEKLY - YOGA & RELAXATION SESSION, every Thursday; Yoga 6.30pm, Bar 8.00pm
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse.

Co-ordinator Glennis Taylor will be only too happy to welcome you along to a friendly group of like-minded folk.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

The winter Darts action continues for LGCC, with the club competing in both of the local Monday and Wednesday competitions.

The Old Bill's Charity Darts League continues every Monday through winter months, while it's the Hemel Social Darts League on Wednesdays. Fixtures for both can be found via the 'Events' section of the LGCC website.

If you'd like more info or the chance to represent Levy in darting action, please contact Darts Secretary Roy Makins on 07312 080302 or pop along to one of their matches.

+ FRI MAR 10: 'The Swing Pins' Duo - back by popular demand

+ FRI MAR 31: Friday Social - Bingo Night: hosted by Sandra Malloy, caller Richard Walker

+ APRIL TBC: 'A Day At The Races': a Spring trip, the plan for which is to follow up with a summer / Autumn trip later in 2023
