IT'S set to be a busy time at The Green across the festive season, with a range of different events to suit all tastes - making for a Christmas that all members can get involved with at LGCC somehow.

The extensive What's On guide below contains details of something new to the club; two free taster sessions of 'Tai Chi'. Read on to find out a little more about this and the many other things we've got in store...

SAT DEC 2 - LGCC's CHRISTMAS FAYRE
Doors open 11.00am; close around 4.00pm

It's the perfect way to solve some of your Christmas prep and gift challenges with a visit to LGCC's Christmas Fayre.

Opening from 11.00am, there's a real variety of stalls and sellers to make a visit very much worth your while. 

The full list is as follows:
+ Christmas gifts & displays (including artificial table displays)
+ Resin-coated coasters, keyrings, mugs, fridge magnets, bear hugs, hugs cards & other gifts
+ Personalised children's clothing & accessories
+ Bespoke ceramics

+ Personalised gifts (including bags, aprons), reindeer food, children's necklaces, Christmas gift bags with candles

SUN DEC 3 - MONTHLY QUIZ NIGHT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL
It's not just the first Sunday of any old month, it's the first Sunday of December - and that means 'Christmas Quiz' time.

A fun-filled evening is guaranteed, as host Richard Walker leads teams through some off-beat and light-hearted rounds - all in some way having a Christmas connection.

Starting at 7.45pm, with the clubhouse and bar open from around 7.00pm, it's time to put those thinking caps on for this festive special.

Quiz teams can be formed of any number you'd like to bring. The entry fee of £2 per person is divided between the top performers. New participants are always very welcome - either as a whole team, or as individuals joining others.

The emphasis is on fun - nothing too intellectual and a few laughs guaranteed. See you there!

TUE DEC 5 & TUE DEC 12 - TAI CHI (QIGONG) FREE TASTER SESSIONS: 10.30am to 11.30am
Targeted especially at senior members, enjoy something quite different at LGCC, as local instructor Fiona Walsh leads you through two free taster sessions of Tai Chi (Qigong).

These are gentle, strengthening easy movements which are perfect for beginners. Even better, you can stand or sit - as preferred - while taking part.

There's no need to book. Simply come along next week, Tuesday morning, and enjoy a taster session for free.

Two taster sessions will run: Tue Dec 5 & Tue Dec 12. Everyone is welcome to try one or both. Further information will then follow about signing up for a series of sessions running in 2024.

TUE DEC 5 - CHRIS'S CHRISTMAS BANJO BASH: Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm
A ho-ho-ho-down is guaranteed when Chris Lawrence and his band of musical maestros come together for a Christmas Special Banjo Bash on the evening of Tuesday December 5!

Keeping that bluegrass and traditional sound very much live, the pluckers, strummers, fiddlers and others treat LGCC members to the sound of some foot-tapping numbers that are sure to put a smile on your face.

The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm at the latest. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy a Christmas dose of musical festive cheer - courtesy of Chris and the gang!

FRI DEC 8, 9.00PM - FRIDAY SOCIAL AT LGCC: Live Music from 'Scam 69'
Back again by huge popular demand, it's the brilliant 'Scam 69'; ready to rock the clubhouse to the sounds of the New Wave & Punk era.

Belting out the tunes that made this niche era famous and kept it relevant until today, the band are back once again at LGCC after playing to a packed clubhouse during July's Cricket Week.

The gig is set to kick off around 9pm but earlier arrivals are advised. 

As ever, LGCC members are welcome to bring along their family and friends for live music at its very best.

THU DEC 14 (every second & fourth Thursday of the month) - T@THEGREEN: Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome

T@TheGreen will be active at least once during December - on Thursday December 14.

As LGCC's fantastic community-led and community-focused fixture continues into late 2023 and 2024, it's over two years now that local people - some of whom may really appreciate the chance to spend time in the company of like-minded others - have been able to gather between 10.00am and 12noon twice a month for a cuppa and a chat.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

FRI DEC 22, 8.30PM - LGCC'S CHRISTMAS PARTY: with live music from 'Undercover'
Back again to play live at LGCC, 'Undercover' are headlining the club's Christmas Party get-together.

Set for Friday December 22, the bar will be open from around 7.30pm with live music set to start around 8.30pm.

Free to attend for LGCC members, their families and guests, we do hope you'll want to see in Christmas week in some style by getting on down at our Xmas Party night!

SUN DEC 31, LGCC'S NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY: with music from DJ Lewis
- Entry by £10 advance ticket only

It's New Year's Eve at LGCC - which will mean a packed clubhouse. So please understand our need to pre-sell advance tickets to ensure everyone can be properly accommodated.

DJ Lewis will play his way through the decades of some of the best hits, switching genres and styles to ensure there are sounds to appeal to everyone.

LGCC's clubhouse doors open at 7.30pm on New Year's Eve.

WEEKLY REGULARS

+ EVERY THURSDAY: YOGA & RELAXATION SESSION: Yoga 6.30pm, Bar 8.00pm
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

+ MONDAY & WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: Darts Teams
Winter Season fixtures for both the Monday and Wednesday darts teams are now firmly up and running.

Updates on fixtures can be found at the 'Upcoming Events' section of our club website lgcc.hitscricket.com, with fixtures from there listed for easy reference on the website's homepage.
