LGCC SPECIAL UPDATE: January Bar Refurbishment At The Green (Mon Jan 15 to Sun Jan 28)

04 Jan 2024

Leverstock Green CC's Management Committee is delighted to confirm the imminent forthcoming refurbishment of the clubhouse bar at The Green.

The closure dates for works are Monday January 15 to Monday January 29 (the last day of which is scheduled for training & familiarisation for the volunteer staff of the club's Bar Rota).

It was the only part of the club not to have been subject to improvements at the time of the full clubhouse refurbishment of winter 2013/14.

Now we're set for a fresh new look for 2024 and beyond - thanks to the efforts of the Social Events Committee, the cricket playing fraternity and regular member patronage whom combined contributed a significant sum towards bar refurb fundraising, easing the burden of funds to be found directly from club reserves.

SUNDAY JANUARY 14 - CLOSING DOWN SALE!
We hope you'll find time to join us during Sunday (open 1pm, close 7pm) to help empty the barrels of beer and the fridges of bottles.

All draught pints will be £3, small wines £2.50, bottled beer £2, spirits £2 and it'll be free drinks for kids.

You'll be doing us a favour as they'll be less to shunt around ahead of the refurb. See you Sunday - please!

RE-OPENING
We hope to have the clubhouse & bar back open for members and their guests on the evening of Tuesday January 30, with Premier League action live via TNT Sports on LGCC's two big screens.

This means a move for the Annual General Meeting, usually held in January. The AGM will now take place on Monday March 4, by which time we hope members will have had a chance to check out the newly-refurbished bar.

BACKGROUND
The bar refurb is the next in a series of capital expenditure projects undertaken by LGCC to improve the club, its facilties and environs for the benefit of members and the local community.

Since the 2013/14 clubhouse refurb, capex projects such as the car park resurfacing and patio extension of 2016 have given a smarter look and increased usability.

Cricket-related capital investment has continued alongside this; astroturf practise nets (2018), pitch & square mowers (2021) and a motorised roller (2023) will be joined by 2024's commitment to purchase mobile roll-on pitch covers for the summer ahead.

The Management Committee is determined to continue to deliver the best possible experiences for all clubhouse users in the years ahead, and, with careful consideration toward the club's long-term wellbeing, will continue to assess all opportunities for development on a case-by-case basis.

With our very best wishes for a happy & healthy 2024 ahead,

LGCC's Management Committee
