LGCC UPDATE: T20 & Training Off Tonight, This Weekend, Cricket Week & More...

05 Jul 2024

AS well as the usual regular activities detailed in our recent What's On email, we'd like to update members about this weekend and some other new items.

TROY MAKES HERTS HISTORY
We begin this e-newsletter with the a matter of great delight for the LGCC. For the first time in our history (to the best of our knowledge), a men's player has been picked to play for represent Hertfordshire County CC while playing at the club.

First XI captain Troy Henry will feature alongside ex-Levy wicketkeeper Cole Seggery in a three-day game for Herts away at Cambridgeshire CCC.

Troy follows Becky Tyson in playing county-level cricket while still donning the whites for us.

We wish Troy all the very best for a successful debut - and hope it inspires him to greater achievement leading our 1st XI in Saturday Herts League Division One action on The Green tomorrow.

POSTPONED - FRI JUL 5: Heath Park T20 Cup Final
Hemel Town CC deemed conditions unplayable for this evening's showpiece, with more rain forecast, and so the Heath Park Cup Final has been moved to the reserve date of Friday July 19, still with a 6.00pm start at HHTCC.

CANCELLED - FRI JUL 5: LGCC Junior Training
With rain this morning and more rain certain to arrive early evening, we're cancelling junior training at The Green this evening.

The bar will be open from 4.45pm, so if you'd like to support the club and watch the Euro 2024 action from 5pm (Spain v Germany), please feel free to do so.

The early shift U14s & U15s played last night, but are welcome to use the astro nets. Rich will be around to keep an eye on things.

Rainfall seems certain before the U10-U11 and U12-U13 sessions kick into gear. We need to keep the 1st XI wicket covered tomorrow, so training becomes more impractical anyway.

Again, if it's not raining, please feel free to come up and use the astro nets - with adult supervision.

SUN JUL 7 - MONTHLY QUIZ NIGHT
A reminder it's Quiz time on Sunday evening; bar opens around 7pm for a 7.30-7.45 start. It's £2 per person to enter and teams can be made up of any number to suit. Cash prizes are on offer for the top performers.

All good fun; nothing too taxing on the old grey matter!

MON JUL 8 - U12s HERTS QF ACTION
Coach Andy Stirrat's Under-12 XI have reached the quarter-finals of the Herts Junior League competition - and now must travel to face Letchworth Garden City away in a last-eight tie.

The game will take place at LGCCC's second ground Fairfield Hall (SG5 4FX) for those wishing to support; start time 6.00pm.

If the U12s win this one, they'll ensure Levy Green are represented at Herts Junior Finals Day for the second consecutive summer - after our U10 County Cup triumph last season.

On the subject of HJL Finals Day, Sunday July 14, LGCC is pleased to confirm it will host the semi-finals and final of the Under-15 competition. Start times are confirmed at 10.00am, 1.00pm and then the 4.00pm final. It's a chance to see some excellent cricket on The Green and a county champion at this older age group.
