SUN JAN 5 - MONTHLY GENERAL KNOWLEDGE QUIZ NIGHT
The first edition of LGCC's monthly general knowledge Quiz Night takes place this evening, Sunday January 5, inside the warm clubhouse.

As usual, there'll be a £2 per person entry fee for quizzers, who can form into teams of any size or come along solo or as a pair and join together with others.

Our club Quizzes put the emphasis on fun and aren't too heavy going, so why not give it a try - especially given the festive theme.

January's quiz maestro is Mike Darke. We look forward to seeing you for a start around 7.30pm. The clubhouse & bar will be open from around 7.00pm.

Monthly Quizzes will then continue on the first Sunday of each calendar month, unless by exception they're moved to accommodate other club events.

TUE JAN 7 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: NEW YEAR HOOTENANNY
Get into 2025 with the foot-tapping sounds of string-playing marvels from around the region, as Chris Lawrance's Banjo Bash resume monthly duties this Tuesday evening.

Come along and enjoy the foot-tapping sounds of bluegrass & old time music, kept alive by Chris and his fantastic group of music connoiseurs.

Bar open from 7.30pm-ish for a start around 8.00pm.

THU JAN 9 & THU JAN 23 (then every second & fourth Thursday of the month) - T@THEGREEN: Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome
LGCC's community-focused offering T@TheGreen continues into 2025.

For the past couple of years now, local people - some of whom may really appreciate the chance to spend time in the company of like-minded others - have been able to gather between 10.00am and 12noon twice a month for a cuppa and a chat.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by for a short while or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments in warm & comfortable surroundings.

WEEKLY FROM SUN JAN 12 & FRI JAN 17 - CRICKET INDOOR PRACTISE SESSIONS
Parents / guardians of LGCC's junior cricket playing community received a standalone email on December 11, detailing age-group specific sessions as we get back together to build towards Season 2025.

A reminder of these details will be published during the week ahead, after a forthcoming LGCC Junior Coaches meeting.

MON JAN 20 - ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
A December 27 email gave official notice of LGCC's forthcoming AGM, with a downloadable Agenda and other notices around committee nominations attached to the email.

The Annual General Meeting will start at 8.00pm on Monday January 20 at the LGCC clubhouse, with all members warmly invited to hear of the club's progress during 2024 and its broad aims for 2025 ahead.

A summary of the accounts for the year ended September 30, 2024, will be provided at the meeting.

Should you wish to raise any questions prior to the meeting that you would like to be presented at the meeting, please email LGCC Honorary Secretary: steve.wright1@talk21.com.

We do hope to see many of you there on the night.

TUE JAN 21 & EVERY TUESDAY MORNING - TAI CHI (QIGONG) SESSIONS: 10.30am to 11.30am
Targeted especially at senior members, enjoy something quite different at LGCC as local instructor Fiona Walsh leads you through a session of Qigong.

These are gentle, strengthening easy movements which are perfect for beginners. Even better, you can stand or sit - as preferred - while taking part.

There's no need to book. Simply come along on a Tuesday morning, with £5 payable upon arrival.

We look forward to you joining an ever-growing community of participants.

SAT FEB 1 - LIVE MUSIC FROM 'THE COSMIC PIXIES'
We're excited to have covers band 'The Cosmic Pixies' debuting at The Green as we kick off our live music offerings for 2025 with something new.

Very popular at local & regional venues they've been playing for the past few years, the Pixies are purveyors of good time rock & roll, classic Indie rock covers and originals as well as upbeat party favourites.

As ever, entry to LGCC members, family & friends is free of charge.

The bar will be open from 7.30pm at the very latest, with live music expected to start around 8.45pm.

++++++
SAT FEB 15 - LIVE MUSIC FROM 'THE SILVER SEARCHERS'
The protagonists of the Merseybeat and Swinging 60s sound now need little introduction to LGCC members.

This is not The Silver Searchers' first gig at LGCC, and that's because they've proved very popular on previous visits.

Playing a great mix of many of the era's biggest songs, they are a band who bring guaranteed singalong and dance-along vibes to The Green.

Again, similar timings can be expected in terms of clubhouse opening and live music start.

And here's a run-down on other regular sports and activities here at LGCC's clubhouse...

DARTS - MONDAY & WEDNESDAY EVENING LEAGUE TEAMS
Darts Secretary Roy Makins reports...
At the end of December the Monday night team sit in the lower half of the Old Bill's Charity Darts League Premier Division. With four more matches to play, we need to win at least two of these to maintain our status. Monday cup games start in a fortnight's time.

The Wednesday team are doing better, made up broadly of the same players as Mondays. Here we have been top of the Hemel Hempstead Wednesday Night Darts League and we are on course for at least a top three position...hopefully champions. In the cup we are now through to the semi-finals which are due to be played soon.

If you'd like to consider joining the Darts teams, come along to a home fixture (see club website 'Events' section for fixtures) or contact Roy on 07312 080302.

++++++
YOGA & RELAXATION GROUP - EVERY THURSDAY EVENING
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse starting at 6.30pm.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

The new Yoga Co-Ordinator is Valerie Clarke, who can be contacted on ogeeclarke@gmail.com for further details.
