IN MEMORIAM: Ernie Ede, Christine Bedwell

21 Jul 2025

ERNIE EDE

Leverstock Green CC was sad to hear of the passing of Ernie Ede on July 8, 2025, after a short illness.

Ernie was a friend and ardent supporter of the club for many decades.

His significant contributions came across all aspects of the club including as a fine left-arm spin bowler, an umpire and a mentor - contributing much to the development of younger players.

Ernie was just as effervescent off the pitch, taking up barman duties or simply as an enthusiastic supporter roaming the boundary offering the occasional 'pearl of wisdom'.

In a personal tribute on Facebook, his daughter Tracey wrote "We all need to be more 'Ernie' friendly to anyone; put others before ourselves and grow tomatoes!"

Our very best wishes go to Ernie's wife Jill, Tracey and all family & friends.

For those wishing to pay their respects, Ernie's funeral takes place today, Tuesday August 5, 3.30pm at Hemel Hempstead Crematorium, followed by a wake back here at The Green.
