COUNTY CUP: Green Into Quarter-Finals

23 Jun 2013

A 160-run fourth-wicket stand between Sam Revell (90) and Tony Sayers (89) helped Leverstock Green reach the Readers Herts County Cup last eight at the expense of Langleybury.

It means Levy will now travel to Letchworth Garden City, of the Home Counties Premier League (Division Two East), in the quarter-finals of the county's premier Sunday knockout competition.

Revell & Sayers contributed two-thirds of Green's imposing 271-7 from their 50 overs against a Bury side who were well behind the run-rate when rain intervened at Hunton Bridge with the hosts languishing on 127-5.

Dave Tyson's late 31 not out helped top up Green's target figure, while Sam Mazurek (2-20 from six overs) and Dayle Littlejohn (2-38 from 10 overs) enjoyed the benefit of some of the catching chances that weren't spilled during Bury's reply.

Green progressed courtesy of a superior run-rate and now take their place in a Herts Cup last-eight line-up that is as follows:

Letchworth Garden City v Leverstock Green
Sawbridgeworth v Bishop's Stortford
Harpenden v Radlett
Hemel Hempstead v North Mymms

Ties are to be played on Sunday July 21, 1pm start.
