AN emotional 'Chinese' Dave Young could barely contain his delight after he and doubles partner Dave Cardy scooped June's Beer Pong tournament at LGCC tonight.

Speaking before a final which saw them defeat Sam Revell & Luke Weston thanks to Cardy's straight-arm push into the final cup, Young told MC Richard Walker that he was drawing inspiration from a number that meant a lot to him.

"It's all about 53," said Young, referring to his favourite Special Chow Mein from the chinese menu.

Roared on by a partisan crowd, 'Chinese Dave' laid the numbers out in front of the opposition on the Beer Pong table in a never-seen-before pre-game ritual and it had the desired effect.

Revell & Weston had no answer, after Cardy & Young had beaten Walker & Neil Fleming in the semi-finals after first seeing off pre-tournament favourites Nick Merrett & Jamie Wallis in the quarter-finals.

The next monthly Beer Pong open knockout challenge will be held on Saturday July 11 as we work towards a 'Champion of Champions' tournament on the final Saturday of the season.
