HERTS LEAGUE ROUND-UP - WEEK 7: Barnard's Ton In Vain As Rain Stops Play

22 Jun 2015

TORRENTIAL rain saved three of Levy Green's four XIs on Saturday - and left the 1st XI wondering what might have been at home to Preston.

All four LGCC teams batted first on a day when rain was due and duly arrived around tea-time to prevent any meaningful resumption of play in any of the four matches.

First-team opening bat Miles Barnard struck an imperious unbeaten 122 at home to Preston, out of a total of 172-8 when rain descended on The Green.

The 2s, 3s and 4s could only muster very modest all-out totals so were more than happy to take the 10 points on offer for a no-result.

Runs scored at the weekend count towards official averages, however this weekend was declared a Fantasy League wipeout as no Levy bowlers had the chance to accumulate points.
