AN unbeaten 104 from veteran gloveman Mike Parkes inspired LGCC 4th XI to a four-wicket win at Abbots Langley IV.
And you may not be surprised to hear that those in the clubhouse on Saturday night were treated to a ball-by-ball account of the knock.
Andy Welch's 32 was the only other score above 14 in the 4s' chase as they used the extra overs gained by removing Abbots early for 179 to get home with an over to spare.
Earlier Derrick Sheldon excelled with the ball, mopping up the host's middle order in a devastating seven-over spell yielding him five wickets for just 14 runs.

GREEN 1s produced a dominant display at The Green, seeing off nearest challengers Northwood by nine wickets to move 23 points clear of second-placed Radlett II - who they host next weekend.
Noted for his penchant for scoring 30s & 40s, Lewis Koch (pictured) broke free this time with a fine 89, supported by Miles Barnard's 70 not out as Levy knocked off Northwood's 162 all out for the loss of just one wicket.
Wickets were shared around earlier in the day when 'Wood - who elected to bat first on the 'Leverstock Green Road' - couldn't find a way to deal with two-wicket Majid Khan whose 14 overs went for just 24.
Adam Thomas picked up 3-40 while Ajit Kumar and skipper Dayle Littlejohn harvested two dismissals apiece to put the 1st XI 28 points clear of third place with four games remaining of what promises to be a thrilling push for promotion to Division One.

Chris Saxby struck a first half-century for The Green, part of the 3rd XI's total of 241-8 declared; 'The Ghost' plundering 66 runs before being dismissed.
The other leading hand came from wicketkeeper Dan Lake who made a useful 52.
The game ended in a draw, with Colney making 181-8, although the 3rd XI's collective failure to bring the scorebook back from Parmiter's School means this correspondent is left unable to bring you any further details.

DETAILS were all too available of the 2nd XI's batting collapse when within sight of the finishing line.
Asked to score 162 to beat St. Albans II after a disciplined performance in the field, things look set fair for a victory after top-order contributions from Jamie Wallis (40) and Sam Revell (30).
But the last five wickets were lost while within 40-odd runs of victory, Green finally removed for 146 - a 15-run defeat.
