KEITH GLASSCOE’S magnificent century led the way for Leverstock Green who resisted a late victory charge by visitors Bessborough to record a first win of their Dukes Chess Valley League campaign.
Richard Walker also starred for Green – but, unusually, with the ball. He wiped out the Bessborough top-order batting with five for 35 from his 10 overs, restricting progress towards Levy’s fine 259 for four, the visitors ultimately falling 18 runs short.
Glasscoe, who hit 33 for Levy 2s the previous day, opened the batting again earlier in the day and looked in fine nick. He dispatched the ball to all parts, putting on 82 with fellow opener Matt Rance (44) and then another 49, 41 of which coming from the bat of Alex King.
