A NAIL-BITING one-wicket win was how promoted Leverstock Green second XI kicked off their Division Five campaign at Knebworth Park III.
Debutant Az Shakoor struck a fine 70 at the top of the Green order as they chased Park's 203 all out.
But, once Shakoor went, it wasn't until skipper Richard Walker entered the fray that the run chase looked on again. Hard-hitting Walker held the lower order together with 50 not out, aided by a quick 21 from Lee Littlejohn, to see Levy home with number 11 Imran Iqbal at the crease and just two overs to spare.
Earlier, Iqbal signalled his intentions to chase last summer's personal 61-wicket haul with four for 52 from 18 overs. Teenager Daniel Fowler was the pick of Green's bowling, however, with only one wicket to show from seven excellent overs for just 21 runs.
