SIXTEEN runs separated Leverstock Green 2s from third place in Division Five, the Bedmond Road side falling inexplicably short of a modest 170 set by Broxbourne II on a flat track.
Green skipper Richard Walker won a first toss of the season (at the ninth attempt) and decided to insert the visitors, a move which paid off only after Levy took the pace off the ball.
At 69 without loss, it looked to be a long afternoon in the searing heat, then Walker introduced himself and fellow occasional slow bowler Kash Shakoor; the pair took four for 24 and three for 41 respectively.
Green’s 155 all out was a poor effort in reply. Opener Keith Glasscoe’s 33 threatened to set the platform required for success, but no one was able to take on the run-making responsibility as Levy’s run chase faltered badly to end at 155.
