LGCC chairman Steve Wilson described the club’s win at Ware 2s as “probably the best-ever victory by the 4th XI”. And the evidence was there to support his claim, with the 4s posting an unprecedented 181 for nine.
Brett Samuels’ 26 and Mark Pynaert’s 28 were both useful middle-order contributions, however youngsters Matthew Lake and Rory Fleming (25) put on an unbroken 39-run stand for Green’s last wicket.
Lake then proved Levy’s star turn with the ball. The 15-year-old off-spinner opened the Green attack and returned outstanding figures of six for 68 from 20 unchanged overs as Ware II were bowled out for 158.
