LEVERSTOCK GREEN’S hopes of conjuring up a miraculous escape from relegation are almost extinguished now after they threw away the chance of victory at home to high-flying Radlett II.

Having inserted their Bedmond Road visitors, Green had a stranglehold with Radlett suffering on 70 for seven. However a late partnership between Fortis and Gulati converted that to 160 all out – a total which was to prove 39 runs too many for Levy’s fragile batting line-up.

It meant seamer Adam Thomas’s five wickets earlier in the day were in vain, although the game did mark the welcome return of Brad Klosterman to the first-team fold and he obliged with a three-wicket haul.

Green opener Chanaka Chandrasekera brightened the mood for a time with a cameo 46, however only three others got into double-figures as the hosts were finally removed for 121.
