Match report A strong Dunstable Town side including pro Robert Keogh (Northants) proved too strong for the Green`s elite ! Losing the toss was not an ideal way to start proceedings. The weather superb as was the track. Keogh showed his class with a variety of shots including several reverse sweeps agianst poor Kochy ! Not much you can do when the batters are set and at times we offered too ,any free hits. With the ground starting to resemble the sahara desert , once the ball went past the field it was four. We stuck to our task though, with 300 on the cards we kept plugging away but it was a shame we only took 2 wickets as points are going to be so vital now and in the next few weeks. In reply , we struggled early against Brad Matthews pace and short pitched bowling, Seggs gloved one to short leg as did Namo. Nick Merrett was then struck on the helmet (on his head) first ball from Matthews which smashed his grille but luckily kept his good looks and hair in tact. Nick though was caught at gully soft dismissal really , we are now struggling at 15-3. Kochy , again proved he has the skills to bat long and make runs , however , perhaps the shot he played made the umpires decision to give him LBW which seemed a bit harsh. New overseas Bruce Will batted well for a brief cameo 20 , but once again look at the scoresheet how many batters wer caught, we need to stay patient when under pressure which seems to be our downfall at the moment. Skipper Tyson bashed a useful 66 , his 50 came off a gloved deflection onto the lid and once 4 overs slips , fast bowler not amused. Tyson and Local showed the way with a partnership of 90 , no false shots but just picking the right balls to hit. Once local was out , Tyson soon followed , now our target was to get 200 runs and maximum batting points. Bozza played some very nice cover drives off Keogh , his 22 not out got us to the 200 , well done Bozza. We have a massive challenge now to keep our side in division 2, we can do it but we need to bat sensibly.
