It seems the threes batting woes are behind them.
Won the toss and decided to bat, 3 and a half hours later we declared on 233 for 2 after 48 overs!
Ash Ali 129 not out backed by the other 3 to bat, Swanny, Tux and Cubicle who all spent time at the crease in support.
At tea the oppo were broken and we felt completely on top, even more so when Baney made his usual early breakthrough. Number 4 came in and swung hard at everything, he was heard telling his skipper he wasn't here to leave the ball. A good partnership looked like it was taking the game away from us until Milky bowled a straight one removing the number 4's middle stump. A suicidal single soon removed the opener who had hung around.
Shotgun removed a couple then 2 in 2 balls from Baney and the game swung back our way, until their skipper, 10 and 11 were obviously blocking for the draw. Skipper missed a straight May delivery, then a change in bowling tactics, bringing Pond back and men very much around the bat (only Swanny was more than 5 yards from the bat). Matt encouraged the number ten into his only forward shot and the ball popped up and was snaffled by the skipper, 30 points to the Green!
We proved, again, we can bowl sides out even when the pitch offers nothing, but the main thing to take from the game is that we didn't give up even when it looked like the game was getting away from us.
