Match report A GREAT team spirit and a willingness to listen, learn and improve have been rewarded for LGCC Under-11s with a first win of summer 2017 - and it was a convincing one over local rivals Hemel Hempstead Town when it arrived at a sun-soaked Bedmond Road.

Put into the field, Levy wasted no time in applying pressure to the Hemel score with opening bowlers Salman Saleem and Harry Walker each picking up a wicket in their first over.

Salman returned for a third over at the inning's end to finish with stand-out figures of 2-3. Captain George Sharman led a bowling performance of great control from the others in the team with a two-wicket return of his own.

Gez Yates conceded just three runs in collecting a dismissal while Jed Driver's two overs were his best of the summer for a 1-6 return.

Jack Dodd continues to find good rhythm with every spell of bowling, while George Hawes will be delighted with both a wicket and a catch at square-leg from Jed's bowling.

Eight wickets were taken to restrict the visitors to a net 209-8 from their 16 overs - and any fears of Green throwing a great chance of victory away were allayed with some sensible batting throughout.

A scintillating performance of 30 not out from Ben Humphreys, who'd earlier effected a sharp stumping, capped a fine team performance as skipper Sharman - who hit 10 runs of his own - led this spirited group of Under-11 players to a fully-deserved first win of 2017.

The challenge now is to back this up with a win in the next match at Watford Town.
