Match report LGCC Under-10s were in good form during their 16-run win over Chipperfield Clarendon at The Green, with plenty of individual highlights to back up a solid team display of fielding.

This was an impressive performance given half of the side are of an age which qualifies them to play Under-9s cricket, so it bodes well for their cricketing futures that the young players are already showing a good appreciation of the game.

Led by tonight's skipper Anna Sharman, Levy bowled first with four players taking a wicket apiece. The best figures came from Rushil Dodhia (1-5) and Olly Milnes (1-8), whose bowling improved immeasurably between his two overs.

Quick thinking from both Olly and Alfie Holloway saw two run-outs effected by Green, to restrict Chipperfield's target to 246-6 from their 16 overs.

After a bright start from Anna and Asim Lashari as the first batting pair for LGCC, Asim fell victim to Anna's special trick of calling 'yes' when the fielder already had ball in hand. No matter; Olly came in and struck 11 and his own wicket in trying to club another four to the leg side, while Rushil did his best to scratch four from some variable bowling patterns.

Harry's 10 not out showed a growing confidence borne of recent hardball match outings - and with Alfie Cawley, Freddie Wheeler and Alfie H all putting further runs on the board, LGCC's Under-10s closed the innings 16 runs ahead of the visitors to secure a welcome win after a good-natured game.
