Match report THE Under-12s season 2019 came to a close on a warm summer's evening at The Green as LGCC and Hemel Town played out the second of a friendly double-header designed to acquaint Levy players with the 11-a-side regular-cricket format they'll be facing when they move into the A League next summer.

The result of both games was never truly in doubt, but The Green were competitive enough in both encounters and - with some polishing of certain skills including reducing the number of extras given away - there's a confidence that they can approach the Under-13 A League campaign in 2020 with optimism.

Thanks to the overage guest players who turned out tonight and well done to debutant Will Kimsey, who doesn't get a mention on the scorecard as Levy fielded 12 players for this one.

Shazil Hussain can be pleased with some lusty blows at the end of the LGCC innings, while James Craig again batted intelligently - building on his excellent 19 not out from the Sunday contest.

Star with the bat was Lewis Cooper, who hit 27, while Shazil, Austin Whitehead and skipper Callum Pillay took the wickets during Hemel's innings.

Thanks so much to all of the parents of players who've featured for the Under-12 team for their transportation of the kids to the matches and for their help before and after matches. A special mention in this regard to Jayson Pillay, an almost ever-present second pair of hands.

Until winter nets, have a good rest and we'll see you at the October 5 awards evening.
