Match report HAVING seen much the same players turn in an excellent fielding display the previous evening for the Under-14s, it was a source of frustration that LGCC Under-15s couldn't match those standards on a glorious evening at Redbourn CC, who were comfortable winners by a margin of 58 runs.

Bowling which was average at best - only Lewis Cooper and Gez Yates returned figures that were anything like economical - was matched by some strange field settings and indecisive actions, allowing Redbourn to plunder at least 30 or 40 more runs than should have been necessary.

Green's players knew they'd served up an under-par display and set about trying to better the previous evening's total (111) - a target set by Coach Walker - to at least take a few positives from the night.

Cooper, Salman Saleem (who top-scored with 19), Yates and Ben Humphreys all batted with relative maturity to occupy the crease for a sufficient time to allow LGCC's score to pass 100 if not eclipse the 112 mini-target.

It was a tough evening's cricket against a Redbourn team which contained no little talent drawn from both their Under-15 and Under-14 pool of players, so Green's players were unable to point to an age difference as a key factor in the result.

Better in-game awareness and improved shot selection when batting - neither of which beyond the grasp of the squad - are two of the key improvements that the Under-15s will be tasked with delivering when travelling to face Northchurch this Sunday morning.
