Match report A warm midsummer's evening with The Green looking a picture was the setting for an LGCC Under-15 win over Chipperfield Clarendon in the final over of a good-natured contest.

Chippo will perhaps feel they could have taken more calculated risks with their batting after posting a slightly below-par 82-6 from their 20 overs. Maybe some more alert calling and running of ones and twos could have bumped the target score into three-figures territory.

That said, Green bowled with their usual accuracy and were very enthusiastic in the field; perhaps their focus more on the encouragement than actually catching the ball, given nearly half-a-dozen chances were shelled - two of which off the unlucky George Hawes.

Having warmed up with a trademark drop, it was George Sharman who - having again bowled well - took the only catch of the CCCC innings to give Shazil Hussain one of just three wickets that went into the bowling analysis.

Having lost both openers early on in the chase, Gez Yates and James Craig rebuilt the Levy innings through the early-middle overs before Salman Saleem (20 not out) and an unbeaten 13 from Ben Humphreys steered LGCC home for a six-wicket win - albeit the winning wide, as it turned out, eventually arriving two balls into the game's final over.

We look forward to an equally convivial return fixture at The Common on a date yet to be set between the clubs.
