Leverstock Green Cricket Club Lost by 27 runs

Match report THREE different LGCC age groups were represented in the Under-11 team against Berkhamsted at The Green; and the visitor's extra experience showed in the final totals being separated by some 27 runs in favour of the opposition.

Completed just before the rain set in, this 16-over match provided great entertainment with some fine boundary-hitting and wicket-taking from both teams.

Asked to bat first, Eisa Inayat was Green's star turn with a confidence-building knock of 11, while Under-9 Nikhil Dodhia top-scored with an impressive 12.

All those taking to the crease for Levy showed promise following a batting-focused training session a couple of days previously, where seemingly much had been remembered - not least of which a much more judicious approach to shot selection from big-hitting Josh Hooper.

The loss of eight wickets - more than one of which to easily-corrected run outs - meant that 244 was Berko's target, which they passed with around three overs remaining.

Under-9s Nikhil and Isaac Stirrat - playing his first match at this level - both bowled with good accuracy towards the inning's close against Berko's strongest batting pair, and they can be pleased with the valuable experiences gained.

James Fennessy made great improvement between his first and second over, Haider Nafees started to find his rhythm with the ball while Shrey Mehta continues to lead the way with bowling; his accurate two-over spell yielding one wicket at the cost of just four runs.

The Under-11's complete their regular-season games this Saturday with a friendly fixture against the debuting LGCC Under-13 Girls team.
