Match report WHILE Leverstock Green’s 4th XI is very much about developing colts into senior cricket, there’s still room for a starring role for a veteran now and then – as Mike Roberts proved at the weekend with five for 11 and an match-winning unbeaten 29 which carried Green to the narrowest of wins hosting St. Margaretsbury III.
Tight fielding was a particular highlight of Saints’ innings, while young teenagers Sam Revell and Matthew Lake showed there’s plenty of burgeoning talent at Bedmond Road with a wicket apiece.
Replying to the visitor’s 134 all out, Levy were in trouble at 30 for five. Then wicketkeeper Daniel Shimell, who hit 31, and and Roberts added 46 for the sixth wicket, before the latter – in partnership with Matt Fowler (20 not out) – enjoyed a last-wicket stand of 33 to carry Green 4s to their first win of the summer.
