Match report LGCC's Under-11s should be very pleased with their first match of the 2021 summer - played at a sun-bathed Tring Park, albeit with a fresh northerly breeze to contend with.

Today's captain Shrey Mehta was very supportive to his team-mates and they responded with some fine individual highlights - and also an excellent team spirit in the field with plenty of encouraging comments throughout.

A small admin error meant The Green ended up with nine players! So the bowling figures against debutant wicketkeeper Eisa Inayat in fact belong to Nikhil Dodhia. James Fennessy, Haider Nafees and Mason Hannibal all took a wicket apiece.

Eisa did very well behind the stumps, swiftly getting in line with the direction of the delivery, while Mason and Zain Hussain were especially sharp in the field.

Levy were set 279 to win by Tring, and it was a tough start with some accurate bowling from the hosts.

Mason hit a couple of fine shots in racking up his unbeaten 10, and then Haider & Joel Oram took the score along to good effect without either losing being dismissed.

Zain and James batted sensibly to leave Shrey and Joshua Hooper 23 runs (nett of wickets lost, of course) to win the game.

The accurate bowling once again helped Tring, but Josh's clear and positive calling was a highlight of the partnership; that before Shrey hit the best two shots of the afternoon back past the bowler.

Green fell ten runs short in their attempt at a first win but all the players developed their skills and received warm support and post-match recognition from their accompanying adults for a great first game.
