COURTNEY WALSH AT LGCC: Domino Effect Means Warm Welcome For Windies Legend

15 Aug 2016

LGCC members were honoured to host Courtney Walsh on Sunday, as the West Indies legend brought his touring Under-15 squad to The Green.

Having fed and watered after their game down the road at Old Albanian, the squad said their thank-yous and left - leaving Courtney (right of picture) to enjoy an evening of dominoes and rum with the lads from our joint Sunday LGCC & SAWICC team.

The visit came about purely because of LGCC's links with St. Albans West Indian CC. Masterchef Holly Henry, having provided teas for the final home Sunday fixture of the season, then fed Courtney and his touring West Indies Under-15 squad.

Along with felllow coaches and former Windies internationals Corey Colleymore and Robert Samuels, Courtney enjoyed his time at The Green, happily posing for photographs and watching on as his 15-year-olds enjoyed an impromptu game of football on the outfield alongside some LGCC juniors.

It was a true privilege to host Courtney in the clubhouse for the evening, with kind words exchanged from both sides. The biggest thanks was reserved for Holly, who has provided food for all Sunday home fixtures and pulled out all the stops to serve twice on this very special evening at The Green.

All LGCC members wish the touring party every success for the rest of their fixture schedule.

Come back some time, Courtney!
