SUNDAY CRICKET: SAWICC XI Top With Three To Go After Wet Win at Lohana

31 Jul 2017

LGCC's joint Sunday XI with our friends at St. Albans West Indian CC is top of Chess Valley League Division Three after team captain Lenny Walker, Sam Mazurek and Sol Tomlinson steered the boys to victory on a wet deck at Lohana.

LGCC & SAWICC sit on 15 points, one clear of their nearest rivals, with three fixtures left of the CVL season.

The latest win came at a wet Lohana ground. A rain-reduced 40 overs per side fixture never looked like going the distance once Lenny Walker's seam bowling started ripping through the host's top order.

The skipper ended with figures of 4-12 while Sol Tomlinson's 3-7 helped reduce Lohana to 84 all out from more than 32 overs.

In reply, it wasn't until Sam Mazurek joined Tomlinson at the crease that the prospects of victory were solidified.

Mazurek dispatched deliveries to all parts to end with 35 not out, complementing Tomlinson's unbeaten 29 as the fourth-wicket pair put on more than 60 to see the boys home.

Home fixtures against Eastcote and Parkfield & Headstone precede the season's final game away at Harpenden as LGCC & SAWICC push for a place in CVL Division Two.
