SENIOR CRICKET LATEST: Thrilling Final Weekend Awaits For LGCC

28 Aug 2018

AS we approach the last weekend of what's been a sizzling hot summer of cricket, there's still all to play for for all five senior sides in action this coming Saturday and Sunday as the 2018 season draws to a close.

Here's our team-by-team look at what the possibilities are for LGCC's sides:

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 1
First XI - Championship, away v Hemel Hempstead Town, 11.30am

With their Championship place secured after a home win over Langleybury last weekend, the 1st XI make the short trip to Heath Park on Saturday knowing that a win would secure a top-half finish at the end of this maiden second-tier campaign.

Second XI - Division 4B, home v West Herts II, 12.30pm
After winning at Flamstead, the 2s have their promotion chances in their own hands. They host already-crowned champions West Herts II at The Green knowing that four bonus points will be enough to secure second spot and a place in Division 4A for next season.

Third XI - Division 9B, home v Sandridge II, 12.30pm
Congratulations to the 3rd XI who are already guaranteed promotion following their win at Preston III. They cannot finish any lower than second now - although there's the chance to win the league this weekend.
Sandridge II are the visitors to Parmiter's School, confirmed to finish and third place and take an extra promotion spot available in this division.
Green need 12 bonus points to put themselves out of reach of Old Minchendenians in second and secure the Division 9B title.

Fourth XI - Regional Division B West, away v Berkhamsted IV, 12.30pm
To maintain a chance of being considered for a promotion of some kind, Green 4s must win at Berkhamsted and maintain or improve their current fourth position.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 2
LGCC & SAWICC XI - Chess Valley Division 3, home v Harrow St. Mary's, 12.30pm
The club's Sunday XI will guarantee themselves promotion to Division 2 with a home win against Harrow St. Mary's at The Green this Sunday.
There's just an outside chance of winning the league as well; resting on an unlikely defeat for Hemel at strugglers Chingford.
