SAT JUL 11 & SUN JUL 12: Getting Back To The Green - Phase 1

08 Jul 2020

Leverstock Green CC is preparing a warm yet cautious welcome back to its valued community of members with a phased approach to re-opening, starting this weekend.

Bar volunteers will be serving drinks (in the manner set out below) between 4pm and 8pm on Saturday July 11, then 1pm and 5pm on Sunday July 12.

This coincides with the government-authorised return of cricket to The Green on Saturday (specifically, should you wish to come and watch, an intra-club fixture by way of warm-up for the Herts League fixtures beginning the weekend afterwards).

This offering will be strictly for members only, with all government guidelines in place with regards to social distancing, household bubbles and relevant wearing of PPE.

Given specific dispensation to play by the government via the ECB, cricketers will be following specific guidelines and procedures before, during and after their match.

Phase 1 Re-Opening

We are very sensitive to the concerns many will have around coming back to The Green, so while we're officially allowed to operate in the same way that a pub might do in terms of clubhouse opening, initially we'll be asking that everyone remains outside the building save for the provision of WC facilities.

Bar volunteers will take drinks orders, payment will be by card only, then the bar team will pour your drinks and bring them to the clubhouse front door for you. There will be a queuing system, and we'd ask all members to respect this and the other measures club volunteers are required to adhere to.

We'll have freshly-ordered draught beer including lager, cider, stout and a premium real ale, along all the usual offerings, however note that we'll be operating a reduced selection of draught options during Phase 1.

Following government guidelines, you will be asked to provide your name, address & contact phone number upon each visit, before you order your first drink.

Initial opening hours this weekend will be Saturday 4pm to 8pm and Sunday 1pm to 5pm, and Membership Secretary Keeley Downes will be present if you've not yet had a chance to process your renewal. Many thanks, by the way, to the many of you that have, given its positive impact on the club's wellbeing.

Further general club communication will follow this week, giving a summary of the club's general financial status and the steps taken to protect its long-term future.

And separate cricketers-only communication will also be dispatched, containing specific details relating to the Herts League restart plans.

For now, however, we look forward to welcoming you back to The Green to enjoy a socially-distanced drink or two while maybe taking in some of the cricket if your visit is on Saturday.

With our very best wishes,
LGCC Management Committee
