FRI JUL 31 TO SUN AUG 2 - RETURN TO LGCC: Reopening Phase 2

29 Jul 2020

WE'D like to thank all LGCC members that have supported the club so for, either by renewing an annual membership subscripton for the 2020-21 period, and/or by coming to The Green for a drink at the initial openings of the bar.

The club's Management Committee now proposes to move to Phase 2 of its reopening plans.

For this weekend, that means the bar will be open from 8pm on Friday evening, then again during Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

In general, members will still need to remain outside the clubhouse. However the purchasing of drinks will now be effected by the creation of a one-way, socially-distanced queue system, bringing you in from the front of the club to the bar and then out to the side at the end of the changing-rooms corridor.

In relation to this, we will be designating the patio area immediately in front of the club as being within the clubhouse footprint. Bar queuing will start through the gap at the front of the patio, and all external furniture will be moved onto the grass between the patio front wall and the cricket boundary.

We believe this will help create a less cluttered area around the clubhouse entrance, and give a better feeling of safety and social distancing for members enjoying a drink - maybe while watching the cricket - with family and friends.

Access to toilet facilities will therefore remain as it's currently been so far; entering the relevant changing-room from outside.

Broadly, it's our intention to follow government guidelines set out for pubs - with a little extra caution applied. Bar staff may well be wearing PPE and you are invited to do so if you wish, although it is not mandatory. Please use sanitisers by the door upon entry. Payments by card only continue for now, to avoid the cross-handling of cash.

We have refrained from offering seated access inside for now, as with a diminished volunteer bar staff roster, controlling numbers and the flow of people is impractical right now.

Further, ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board) mandate that, while cricket is being played, clubhouses should not be open. That's why you've seen some cricket changing having to take place outdoors and why we reserve the right to revert to the Phase 1 methodology of serving from the front of the club while cricket is in play.

It looks a promising forecast ahead for this weekend, so we'd hope to see LGCC members and their families & friends at The Green. There is Herts League cricket action on both days to enjoy (Saturday, 2nd XI, noon, Sunday, 4th XI, 1pm) and our warm welcome includes a full selection of wines & spirits as well as a range of draught beers that's now nearly full restored to its pre-Covid offering.
