SAT JUN 19 - LGCC JUNIOR TRAINING: Postponed - Too Wet Underfoot

17 Jun 2021

Update Saturday June 19, 8.30am:
ALTHOUGH The Green will be fit for play today for the senior 1st XI (12noon start - all welcome) later, the grass is too damp right now to accommodate junior training, therefore reluctantly it's postponed. See you all for matchdays and then next weekend!

Friday afternoon article:
HAVING optimistically informed you all of tonight's training session moving forward by half-an-hour, this somewhat inevitable follow-up confirms that the U11s-U15s planned for later has been postponed due to the extensive rainfall today.

Maybe without logic, we are leaving a decision on tomorrow morning's session for U9s-U10s & U13 Girls until an 8.30am inspection of the ground. We'll update by email and here at the club website top story at 8.30 or very shortly afterwards to avoid unnecessary travel.

ACTION THICK & FAST...
It's been a busy few weeks of junior matches as the scheduled crams together to accommodate scheduled fixtures and those games rearranged from before half-term due to the prolonged rain in May.

You can always catch up on the Junior Honours Boxes here on the homepage of our website.

Top of the batting section for now is Cole Seggery with his 53 not out (retired) at home to Rickmansworth in an Under-17 game, while Under-11 Charlie Veragoo heads the bowling best thanks to his 3-6 against Tring Park!

From the homepage, to read up on the scorecards and occasional match reports, hit the 'FIXTURES' menu option and select an age group from the drop-down list.

Best of all, there's loads more junior cricket matches ahead as we enter the final month of the junior season before school holidays begin.

CRICKET WEEK 2021

Don't forget that the first full week of school holidays only ever means one thing at LGCC: Cricket Week!

A consistent feature of summers at The Green for over 40 years, we'll be playing one senior match every day from Tuesday to Sunday inclusive.

After the games finish, there's fun to be had each evening for juniors; 'Giant Slip & Slide', sports-based inflatables, team Olympics and much more are not to be missed!

The traditional Caribbean Thursday remains in place with Chef Drumi and his team serving up from around tea-time onwards.

A live DJ set late on Friday evening and live music on The Green on Saturday night precede a very special Cricket Week Sunday when past players return for a Past v Present game and great conversation long into the evening.

For a run-down of each day, please click the 'Cricket Week 2021' page on the left-hand menu.

CLUB CLOTHING

In response to a number of enquiries, you are able to purchase LGCC-branded playing shirts and other club-styled cricket wear (polo shirts, full-zip hoodie, quarter-zip jumper, green training T-shirt, training trousers, cap, etc. etc.) from our club clothing partner Peter Spivey Ltd. The club's webshop can be found by clicking here: https://www.peterspivey.com/lgcc

Payment is made at the time of order and Peter Spivey Ltd place a bulk order with Stuart Surridge - the clothing suppliers - once every fortnight. You can choose to have the ordered items delivered to LGCC for your collection or collect from Spivey's store on Marlowes in the town centre (opposite the new Dacorum BC civic centre & library).

Should you wish to visit the shop in person, it stocks a wide range of other cricketing essentials. Discount is available when you mention you play for the friendliest local cricket club in the area (that's Leverstock Green CC, of course!).

We have been wearing Stuart Surridge garments for some years now. Their green trim range is almost unique among cricket suppliers, while the quality of their product means we have no intention of changing.

It's great to see our young cricketers decked out in club colours so do take a look when you get a chance.
