LGCC WHAT'S ON - FEBRUARY & BEYOND: Live Music, MacMillan Quiz, Sandown Races & Much More

03 Feb 2022

IT'S a busy February here at LGCC - with live music early on in the month (Fri Feb 4) giving way to two Quiz nights and other weekly & monthly regulars thereafter.

One of the two Quiz Nights is a very special annual fundraiser -details of which, along with other events, are below.

FEBRUARY'S HEADLINE EVENTS:

FRI FEB 4 - LIVE MUSIC AT LGCC: Scam 69 (70s & 80s new wave cover band); Bar 7.30pm, Band 8.15pm
We're kicking off a fuller programme of Social Events for 2022 at The Green - with new Social Events Co-Ordinator Sandra Malloy now in post - with live music from a very popular regional covers band.

Events at LGCC will be provided largely free-of-charge and are designed to put some dates back in your diaries for getting together here at LGCC.

FRI FEB 25 - MACMILLAN NURSES FUNDRAISING: Mammoth Quiz Night; Bar 7.00pm, Quiz 7.30pm
Kindly hosted by LGCC member Gloria Odell, it's time to put the thinking caps on for a great cause. Teams of up to eight are invited to enter, with tickets priced at £12 per person to include a ploughman's supper.

The club will open at 7.00pm with the Quiz slated for a prompt start at 7.30pm.

We can accommodate up to eight teams, so booking is essential for an event that's always sold out - given the great cause it supports; the work of the nurses of MacMillan Cancer Care.

Raffle prize donations are also warmly welcomed, either before or on the evening itself; all of which will help towards the club's fundraising efforts on the night.

To book your places, please email Gloria: gloria.odell22@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for your support of this excellent annual event.

THU FEB 10 & THU FEB 24 - T@ THE GREEN: Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome
Our community get-together goes from strength to strength with around 30-40 regularly in attendance now, between 10am and 12noon on every second and fourth Thursday morning of each month.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

OTHER REGULAR ACTIVITIES:

SUN FEB 6 - MONTHLY QUIZ NIGHT: First Sunday of every month; Bar 7.00pm, Quiz 7.30pm
After an enjoyable re-introduction of the monthly Quiz Nights in early December and a break for the festive season in January, it's time for sharpened minds and pencils once again on Sunday February 6, when the regular monthly Quiz Night makes its first appearance of 2022.

Hosting duties are being shared on a monthly basis between those who regularly take part and the club's Quizmaster-in-Residence, Richard Walker.

THU FEB 10 & WEEKLY - YOGA & RELAXATION SESSION, every Thursday; Yoga 6.30pm, Bar 8.00pm
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse.

Co-ordinator Glennis Taylor will be only too happy to welcome you along to a friendly group of like-minded folk.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

TUE MAR 1 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: First Tuesday of every month; Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm
Enjoy the delights of music played in the traditional way by Chris Lawrance and his collection of musical maestros from around the local area.

Some of the finest fiddlers and string pluckers in the region descend on The Green for an old-time bluegrass and traditional music session once a month - and it's always worth a listen.

The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy the sounds.
