HERE'S our round-up of what's coming up at LGCC during the next month or so...
APRIL'S HEADLINE EVENTS
SUN APR 3 - MONTHLY QUIZ NIGHT - 7.00PM FOR 7.30PM START
It's time for our Monthly Quiz Night again, coming up as it does every first Sunday of the calendar month.
Hosting is shared between LGCC's quizmaster-in-chief Richard Walker and regular quiz participants. This month Richard is in the chair with a broad mix of quizzing - nothing too specialised or heavyweight.
Join us from 7pm bar opening time for a 7.30pm prompt start.
It's £2 per person to enter. Teams can be made up of any reasonable number. Cash prizes, made up from entry fees, are available and there's drinks tokens to be earned for Spot Prize questions.
So whether you're an LGCC quiz regular or someone looking to join for the first time, all are welcome for an informal evening of fun that usually ends around 10pm.
TUE APR 5 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: First Tuesday of every month; Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm
Enjoy the delights of music played in the traditional & bluegrass way by Chris Lawrance and his collection of musical maestros from around the local area.
Some of the finest fiddlers and string pluckers in the region descend on The Green for an old-time music session once a month - and it's always worth a listen.
The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy the toe-tapping sounds.
FRI APR 8 & SAT APR 9 - JUNIOR CRICKET OUTDOOR PRACTISE SESSIONS START
Fridays 6.30pm to 8.00pm, Saturdays 9.15am to 10.45am
An ambitious start date maybe (!), but we're aiming to be back on The Green on Friday April 8 & Saturday April 9- weather permitting (will be cancelled if too wet and/or too cold).
Age groups U11s to U15s inclusive on Friday evenings, then U8s to U10s inclusive & U13 Girls on Saturday mornings.
All coaching sessions are included as part of junior players' annual subscription fees, which this year will include a new playing shirt for a small supplement.
Junior players should be on site at least five minutes before start times, to assist coaches with session planning based on numbers in attendnace.
TUE APR 12 - SENIOR CRICKET OUTDOOR PRACTISE SESSIONS START
Every Tuesday evening 6.30pm to dusk
Following on from the juniors getting underway, senior players are invited to join the traditional Tuesday night practise sessions.
We aim to start in earnest by 6.30pm, although many are often there before that time.
There'll be a mix of fielding work, on-square drills and net sessions, with all those set to play senior cricket this summer welcome to attend (age 14 and upwards).
Groups are split by ability where appropriate, for optimum training value for all.
THU APR 14 & THU APR 28 - T@THEGREEN: Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome
Our community get-together goes from strength to strength with over 40 regularly in attendance now, between 10am and 12noon on every second and fourth Thursday morning of each month.
Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.
Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.
GOOD FRIDAY APR 15 - DJ LEWIS ON THE DECKS AT LGCC
Open at Easter? Absolutely! It's Friday Socials time again.
Never mind Easter holidays, we'll be here with disco tunes for everyone from 7pm onwards on Good Friday.
DJ Lewis will be spinning the discs for both young and old, on Friday April 15.
He'll be lining them up straight after Junior Cricket training (adjusted time of 5.30pm to 7.00pm), then will be playing stuff with more adult appeal from around 8.30pm.
Of course there'll be a few folk away for Easter weekend, but for those of us still about then it's a great time to start the Easter weekend with a boogie!
(This is another free-to-attend event at LGCC, designed to put some dates back in your diaries for getting together here at The Green)
EASTER SUNDAY APR 17: Easter Egg Hunt
Bring your little ones down from 2pm to LGCC for a traditional Easter Egg hunt, courtesy of LGCC.
