TUE JUL 26 TO SUN JUL 31 - CRICKET WEEK 2022: Family Fun, Cricket & Sunshine At The Green - A Perfect Summer Mix

18 Jul 2022

CRICKET WEEK - the favourite week of the year at LGCC is back for 2022 between Tuesday July 26 and Sunday July 31!

Full details are contained at our club website's dedicated Cricket Week page, which can be accessed by clicking HERE or using the left-hand menu options.

Below is a brief summary of what's happening on each day.

Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are not to be missed by our juniors - and, in fact, kids of all ages.

TUE JUL 26
After the President's XI game (1.30pm start), we've got half-a-dozen Giant Inflatables heading to The Green for around 6.30pm start.

Including 'The Spinner', Nerf Challenge, Football Challenge and a 70ft Obstacle Course, it's going to be a mega night of fun!

WED JUL 27
After the Hemel Heroes XI game (2.00pm start), we've got our world-famous 'Giant Slip n Slide'.

First up it'll be the adults from LGCC and Hemel Town CC, just to check the surface is at its best, of course! Then it's the kids' turn, probably from around 6.30-7pm.

We'll also have our favourite Pizza Van on site throughout the late afternoon into the evening.

THU JUL 28
Arguably the king of the Cricket Week days now, it's a full-on Caribbean feel as we're taking on a team from the ACE (African-Caribbean Engagement) Programme from The Oval, led by our own Troy Henry.

From mid-afternoon, Chef Drumi and his team will be serving their delicious Caribbean food. Don't arrive too late into the evening or you risk it being all gone! There's never anything left unsold, such is the variety and quality (cash only for the food).

FRI JUL 29
We're easing towards the weekend now, with a game against our friends from The Old Contemptibles XI midweek side - starting at 2.30pm.

After the game, it's live music time with our Buskers Duo Becky & Mike, playing all of your favourites from the 60s to the 90s - and they'll take requests, too!

SAT JUL 30
A more regular day in that it's Herts League action on The Green with our 1st XI hosting St Albans from Division One in what should be a top-of-the-table thriller.

Evening entertainment doesn't stop, though, as DJ Footsie Grant (he of Bingo Lingo fame) returns to The Green to play from 6pm for kids then later for adults.

SUN JUL 31
A now annual chance for former LGCC players to return and have a game on The Green. It's Past XI v Present XI at 1.30pm, followed by the Cricket Week awards.

We're hoping to have a BBQ running throughout the late afternoon (tbc).

So there it is; what a week in store here at the home of community cricket!
