WHAT'S ON AT LGCC - SEPTEMBER 2022: Live Music, Cricket Finale, Quiz Night, Banjo Bash, Tea@TheGreen, Yoga & Much More...

20 Aug 2022

THERE'S much to look forward to once again at LGCC as we move into Autumn, starting with September 2022.

With live music kicking the month off in fine style, the cricket season comes to an exciting finale straight afterwards and the Monthly Quixz Night rounds off a packed weekend.

Thereafter it's the usual offering of something for everyone, with regular activites at the cricket club at the heart of its community.

Here's what we've got lined up for September...

FRI SEP 2: LIVE MUSIC AT LGCC - 'Gemma-Anne', solo vocalist
In something of a complete step-change from the crash-bang-wallop of August's live music, the more refined vocal tones of Gemma-Anne will be gracing the LGCC clubhouse on the evening of Friday September 2.

Set for a 9.00pm start, she'll be joining us to sing for the first time at The Green.

The bar will be open from around 7.30pm for you to enjoy a drink or two at the end of the working week, and to ensure you get the seats you'd like for what is another free-to-attend event for LGCC members and their guests.

We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of entertainment from a talented solo vocalist.

SAT SEP 3: CRICKET SEASON FINALE - 1st XI pushing for promotion
We're looking for a big crowd of supporters for the whole day's cricket action on Saturday September 3 at The Green, please.

Thanks to their win on Saturday August 20 and results elsewhere, we now know that the 1st XI's push for promotion from Herts League Division One into the Championship Division will go down to the season's final day.

Dayle Littlejohn's team host Letchworth Garden City at The Green on September 3, with the start set for 11.30am.

Plenty of support throughout the day's play is called for as the first-team attempt to secure one of the two promotion slots available; it's a three way battle between Levy, Redbourn and St Albans for a chance to play in the Championship in summer 2023.

After the day's play - win or lose - all teams will be at The Green long into the evening to enjoy a night's revelry as we mark the end of the senior cricket season. Everyone is welcome to join for drinks and sing-a-longs!

SUN SEP 4: Monthly Quiz Night, 8pm start
The chance to test out the old grey matter is back this month - and then every month onwards during Autumn and Winter.

Teams can be made up of any number you'd like to bring, with the entry fee of £2 per person divided between winning teams and a charity of choice.

There's also Spot Prizes along the way, with the bar open from 7.30pm.

Quizmaster for September's brain-teaser is Richard Walker.

TUE SEP 6 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: First Tuesday of every month; Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm

Enjoy the delights of music played in the traditional & bluegrass way by Chris Lawrance and his collection of musical maestros from around the local area.

Some of the finest fiddlers and string pluckers in the region descend on The Green for an old-time music session once a month - and it's always worth a listen.

The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm at the latest. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy the toe-tapping sounds.

THU SEP 8 (& EVERY SECOND & FOURTH THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH) - T@THEGREEN:
Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome

Our community get-together continues between 10am and 12noon on every second and fourth Thursday morning of each month.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

THU SEP 8 & WEEKLY - YOGA & RELAXATION SESSION, every Thursday; Yoga 6.30pm, Bar 8.00pm
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse.

Co-ordinator Glennis Taylor will be only too happy to welcome you along to a friendly group of like-minded folk.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

FRI SEP 16: LGCC Junior Cricket Awards Evening
We'd love you to join us on the evening of Friday September 16 to celebrate what's been a fantastic summer of junior cricket here at Leverstock Green CC.

With mementoes for every single junior cricketer who's taken part in training and/or matches this season, we'll also be recognising the best of the achievements during what's been a hugely enjoyable 2022.

Players aged under 9 up to our Under-15 age group are invited to be at the LGCC clubhouse from 6.30pm, to ensure everyone is present to celebrate all others' season-long commitment to the club.

We'll work our way up through the age groups - from youngest first - with each coach telling the tale of the team's season, presenting mementoes and team awards.

Then, once all age groups have been covered, we'll present the awards covering the whole Junior section, so we'd ask all players & parents to be present for the full awards schedule.

There'll be food available on the evening; whether that's direct from the kitchen or via one of our regular food providers such as the Pizza Van etc. We'll confirm this nearer the time.

We look forward to seeing you on September 16th!
