Leverstock Green Cricket Club News story

21 Apr 2023

FOR later today (Fri Apr 21), our plan is to host a nets-only session for U10, U11 & U12 age group players. We will have a coaching presence on site from 6.30pm.

The outfield is still suffering at the hands of the relentless bad weather, so age groups U13-U15 will have to wait sit this one out, unfortunately.

We've prioritised lower age groups this week, because we have some U10 players coming into hardball cricket for the first time. They really need a little practise with full equipment before matches begin next week. If this is rained off, you'll hear from us again via WhatsApp groups and email.

There will be no Saturday morning session for U9s and below, and Sunday's U12 home game will be rescheduled for a later date (our adult friendly on Saturday is also cancelled).

A reminder that it's Friday evenings 6.30pm to 8.00pm for all regular hardball cricketers aged U10 to U15 inclusive; and it's Saturday mornings 9.30am to 10.45am for all Incrediball cricketers aged U9 and below. By prior approval, players who cannot make Friday evenings for any reason (other sports, clubs, etc.) are also welcome. Please contact your team coach in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Help Us Welcome New Overseas Player Carlos La Rose

Carlos La Rose lands in the UK during the daytime today - and he'll be pleased to say hello to you in the LGCC clubhouse from around 8pm this evening, after training nets.
From Guyana, Carlos is 31 years old and will bring with him a wealth of experience to add to our 1st XI ranks in Herts League action. He'll also be helping with junior cricket matchdays.
He'll be staying with Troy Henry's family during the summer, just around the corner from The Green, so you'll all be seeing plenty of him.
Welcome, Carlos!

We once again attach Membership Forms to this email. Thanks to all those who've actioned so far.

If you'd like to sign up your junior cricketer(s), then Membership Secretary Keeley Downes can be contacted for assistance on 07896 237548.

Payment is possible online via bank transfer (see Membership Form), or by Chip & PIN or cash in-person with Keeley.

A reminder that brilliant magician Phil Perry - an long-distance LGCC member now living in Suffolk - is back for the Coronation Weekend with a Magic Show special for all kids and adults after Junior Training. It's an 8.00pm start for his children's show.

Hopefully you're familiarising (or re-familiarising) yourself with how to make your junior cricketer(s) available for matches through our club website system.

The first team selections have been going out in recent days, heralding the start of an avalanche of junior cricket fun over the next couple of months or so. We do hope to see you at The Green soon for training or a game, once the poor weather relents!
