LGCC WHAT'S ON: Coronation Weekend (Fri May 5 to Mon May 8) And Beyond In May

THIS weekend sees the coronation of King Charles III and, as you might expect, we've got something for all ages to enjoy at The Green - starting on Friday evening.

Please find below Coronation Weekend activity in summary and in detail, then after a run-down of the other club events & activities happening during May, listed in chronological order.


CELEBRATE CORONATION WEEKEND IN TRUE LGCC STYLE!
+ Fri May 5:
 Magic Show with special guest Phil Perry (after cricket training); 8pm for kids, 9pm for adults.

+ Sat May 6: Coronation live from 10am, Senior 1st XI cricket from 12noon, Afternoon Tea from 4.pm & Live Music from 8.30pm.

+ Sun May 7 & Mon May 8: Junior cricket both days on The Green 
There'll be no better place this weekend than LGCC to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, with plenty for everyone across a packed weekend.

CORONATION WEEKEND - FRI MAY 5: Magic Show with Phil Perry
From around 8.00pm for kids, from around 9.00pm for adults

LGCC vice-President Phil Perry is back at The Green as a special guest of the club, performing his renowned magic for the enjoyment of both the young at young-at-heart on the evening of Friday May 5.

Now living in rural Suffolk, this is a rare trip back for Phil so we're going to make him especially welcome. We're expecting a packed clubhouse after junior cricket training; make room for the kids to take their places from 8.00pm-ish, and then Phil will be entertaining adults from 9.00pm-ish.

CORONATION WEEKEND - SAT MAY 6: Coronation Screening, Afternoon Tea, Live Band
From 10am:

From 12noon: 1st XI cricket on The Green
From 4pm: Afternoon Tea
From 8.30pm: Live music with 'Uptown Funk UK'

Coronation Day itself is plenty busy enough at The Green, with the chance to join us for the whole day!

We'll be opening the clubhouse doors early to allow members & guests to gather together and watch the coronation shown live on our giant TV screens.

Green's 1st XI will take to the field at 12noon, with the ceremony still in full swing (all puns intended). A Royal Afternoon tea will be served during the cricket match for eveyone to enjoy.

And after cricket, from 8.30pm, it's our delight to welcome the band 'Uptown Funk UK' - playing live into the evening at LGCC.

(Not mentioned above, but Junior Cricket training for U9 & below will take place as usual, starting at 9.30am)

CORONATION WEEKEND - SUN MAY 7 & MON MAY 8: Junior Cricket both days

LGCC will be fielding teams at various age groups in Herts Junior League across both Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday this weekend.

The bar will be open throughout, so do come down to enjoy a drink and support the youngters in action on The Green.

TUE MAY 2 - CHRIS LAWRANCE'S BANJO BASH: First Tuesday of every month; Bar 8.00pm, Music 8.30pm
Enjoy the delights of music played in the traditional & bluegrass way by Chris Lawrance and his collection of musical maestros from around the local area.

Some of the finest fiddlers and string pluckers in the region descend on The Green for an old-time music session once a month - and it's always worth a listen.

The gang usually get going from around 8.30pm at the latest. Come along and have a drink while you sit back and enjoy the toe-tapping sounds.

THU MAY 11 & THU MAY 25 (THEN EVERY SECOND & FOURTH THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH) - T@THEGREEN:
Join Us For A Cuppa & A Chat - Free Community Event, All Welcome
The fantastic community-focused fixture that is T@TheGreen continues .

Our community get-together continues between 10am and 12noon on every second and fourth Thursday morning of each month.

Completely free to attend and personally hosted, everyone in the local community is welcome to pop by or stay for the whole two hours; whichever is most appealing.

Have a chat with other folk from around the village and surrounding areas, or simply sit back, relax and take in the calming view across The Green from our bright and airy clubhouse facility - while enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and some light refreshments.

SUN MAY 14: Monthly Quiz Night, 7.45pm start

LGCC's Monthly Quiz Night is next to be held a week later than usual, due to the Coronation Weekend.

So it's thinking caps on this time for Sunday May 14 evening, with quiz teams being made up of any number you'd like to bring; the entry fee of £2 per person divided between the top performers.

It's a very fun, informal evening, nothing too heavy - but enough to get you thinking. New players are always very welcome, whether forming a full team or simply coming along and joining in with others.

There's also a Spot Prize or two along the way, with the bar open from around 7.00pm.

WEEKLY REGULARS

EVERY THURSDAY - YOGA & RELAXATION SESSION: Yoga 6.30pm, Bar 8.00pm
Come along and enjoy a relaxed yoga session under the watchful eye of a qualified tutor, every Thursday evening inside the LGCC clubhouse.

Co-ordinator Glennis Taylor will be only too happy to welcome you along to a friendly group of like-minded folk.

Mats are available to use should you not possess your own, and the group often stay behind for a quick drink after the clubhouse opens to others at 8.00pm.

MONDAY & WEDNESDAY EVENINGS: Darts Teams
A number of end-of-season tournaments are now taking place as the Darts season moves into Spring and also Summer Leagues action.
 
Some are in-house at LGCC, while others are competitions involving players from all local teams - most of those events are held at Hemel Stags Rugby Club, Pennine Way.
