With outdoor senior training scheduled for every Tuesday from 6.15pm throughout the summer, and the final pre-season warm-up opportunity this Saturday, it's a big week for Levy Green cricketers.

Here's a copy of an e-mail sent out on Sunday evening to all cricket players' e-mail addresses. If you didn't get it, maybe you need to update your details on this website.

To all Levy Green cricketers,

The time for excuses has finished! The weather is warming up and the Green's facilities have already been tested for you by the first friendly match of summer 2013.

So make this week your week of action for getting back into full-on cricket mode...

Training sessions for all senior players will be run by qualified coach Alex King, one of our two returning overseas players, and will take place every Tuesday (having started last week) from 6.15pm. Please arrive promptly to make the most of the time the Spring evening light allows.

Let it be clear that training is offered for the use of ALL players who intend to play senior cricket this summer, regardless of which team that may be in. Individual improvement inevitably leads to team success, so please make every effort to get along.

Also on Tuesday nights (after training, of course) is the weekly selection meeting for the weekend ahead.

And, since this website was launched, it's been very easy to let the selection committee know if you're available or not. Sadly, some players have simply never got into the habit of updating their availability - which causes extra work and needless uncertainty.

Monday midnight is the cut-off for each weekend please, so that meaningful reports can be produced by web administrators for use at selection. The further you can get ahead with your availability the better. If you're one who chooses to or can only update weekly due to other commitments, may we politely suggest a recurring reminder in a mobile device of some sort for every Monday evening during the season?

Because this Saturday, April 27, the intention is to have at least one - if not two - friendly matches running. There is a game v Met Police Bushey at the Green, while a second friendly match, drawn from the Club Cricket Conference (CCC) will take place if availability is sufficient.
